Former MDC-T interim leader and now Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) member, Dr Thokozani Khupe was embarrassed in Bulilima West, yesterday, where she had gone to drum up support for Nelson Chamisa ahead of the 2023 elections.

A source who spoke to this publication said Khupe, who was in the company of one Mrs Maplanka and a Mrs Moyo, was left with  an egg on her face as she was labelled a political prostitute who cannot be taken seriously.

“Ma Khupe was embarrassed in Bulilima West yesterday. She went there in the company of Mrs Maplanka and Mrs Moyo to drum up support for Chamisa ahead of the 2023 Harmonised Elections. However, the villagers turned up against her and asked her to go back to Bulawayo as they had no time to listen to a political prostitute,” said the source.

The source added that a certain man by the name Hlabani told Khupe that Chamisa risks losing heavily in that area if he continues sending Khupe to address them. The same Hlabani told Khupe that she was a political trickster and an opportunist who should not be tolerated.

According to the source, the people of Bulilima told Khupe that she should not continue to falsely lie to Chamisa that she was the political godmother of the Matebeleland region as history has exposed her as a woman of questionable loyalty to the opposition politics.

The source said that Khupe who was visibly shaken by the reaction of the Bulilima people, tried to calm them but a large number of people abandoned the meeting leaving Khupe to address a paltry crowd that was largely composed of women who were previously with Khupe during her days in MDC T.

Meanwhile, there are reports that the majority of CCC Bulawayo members are not comfortable working with Khupe and have since advised Chamisa to clarify the status of Khupe within that party. It was reported that Khupe joined CCC as a card carrying member but she was now carrying out the duties of an elected party official with the blessing of Chamisa.
