Government is committed to providing quality public services and goods to the citizens, particularly those who reside in rural areas.
Officially opening Murewa District Registry building and e-Passport Bio-Enrolment Centre in Murewa yesterday, President Mnangagwa said that the commissioning of the registry centre was a testimony of how the Second Republic was leaving no place and no one behind as far as development was concerned.
“Following the advent of the Second Republic, my Government committed to bring quality public services and goods to the citizens of our country particularly communities in our rural areas. This event which marks the official opening of Murewa District Registry Office and e-Passport Bio-enrolment Centre, is yet another testimony that my Administration is delivering on its promises,” said the President.
President Mnangagwa further said that Government was aware that a well-functioning civil registration system was a critical source of reliable statistics and population data. He added that such data was important for an effective and responsive development planning and programming ecosystems as well as for the monitoring of progress towards the realisation of the targets of the National Development Strategy Phase One (NDS1).
The President challenged the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage and its partners to speedily establish more e-passport and bio-enrolment centres in other cities and districts in the shortest possible time. He further commended Government departments and other stakeholders for their continued hard work which has seen the realisation of the goals and targets set in the NDS1.
President Mnangagwa reiterated that the mantra, ‘Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo’, had led to the delivery of high impact, people centred programmes and projects. He added that the programmes being implemented by the Government would go a long way towards the modernisation of the country’s infrastructure as well as developing broader rural development agenda.
Meanwhile, the President challenged the people of Murewa, Uzumba, Maramba, Pfungwe, Mudzi and Mutoko to fully utilise the newly opened registry office to acquire vital national registration documents.
