The ruling ZANU PF is set to take stock of its cell structures as the Party plots to increase its membership base ahead of the 2023 harmonised general elections.
In a statement yesterday, the ZANU PF National Political Commissar, Cde Mike Bimha, said the Party was leaving no stone unturned in its mobilisation drive and will hold a National Cell Day to take stock of its structures.
“We are not taking 2023 lightly. We want everyone to understand that cells are our alpha and omega. Everything starts in a cell. We want to hold a National Cell Day to set the correct recruitment tone for our members,” said Cde Bimha.
Cde Bimha added that the Party was being rejuvenated as a lot of young people have joined the Party structures, a sign that ZANU PF was appealing to people of all generations.
“We are happy that the recent party restructuring has seen more youthful faces taking positions of responsibility in the provinces. This is commendable as they are the future of ZANU PF,” added Cde Bimha.
ZANU PF has set a target of recruiting at least five million voters to cast their votes for the Party in the 2023 plebiscite.
In October last year, Cde Bimha said that ZANU PF had reached a four million membership after its restructuring exercise.
“The Party is focusing on cell structures and this exercise has gone well, resulting in the establishment of branches and currently the party districts. As of now, we are safely talking of having reached a four million membership in terms of the exercise up to this stage,” Cde Bimha said.
Meanwhile, ZANU PF informed that those who want to join the party should approach any ZANU PF member and be assisted on how they can join the Party structures.
