ZANU PF youths elected a new 40 member national executive yesterday with Cde John Paradza being elected as the deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs taking over from Cde Tendai Chirau who was holding fort in an acting capacity.
Announcing the election results yesterday, ZANU PF National Political Commissar Cde Mike Bimha commended the youths for peacefully electing their leaders saying that they exhibited great maturity. He added that women’s emancipation was alive in ZANU PF as three female comrades were voted into the top positions.
Cde Bimha announced that Gutu West legislator, Cde Paradza was now the substantive Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs and Cde Tendai Chiwetu from Harare was elected to be the Secretary for Administration while Garikai Zonde from Bulawayo was now the new Youth League treasurer.
Tsungai Makumbe from Mashonaland Central is the incoming political commissar and he will be deputised by Taurai Kundishaya from Harare. Valeria Makonza is now the Secretary for External Affairs.
Cdes Tubelihle Ncube and Cde Innocent Dube were voted Secretary for Security and Secretary for Transport and Welfare respectively
Other members who were voted into the Youth League National Executive include Cde Macdonald Mbungo, Margret Nyerere, Phillipa Mukono, Munashe Mututsa and Luckmore Gapa, among others.
Speaking at the same event, ZANU PF National Chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri applauded the youths for being disciplined.
“There was no tussling or vicious contestation during the election, but discipline and consensus prevailed during the election process based on individuals’ capability in the National Executive,” said Cde Muchinguri.
Cde Muchinguri implored the newly elected executive to be patriotic and always learn from the Party’s leadership.
Meanwhile, the Conference will end today with the confirmation of the newly elected executive and President Mnangagwa is expected to give his closing remarks.
