The fight for the control of Matabeleland region between Citizens Coalition for Change interim vice president, Welshman Ncube and interim chairperson, Thabitha Khumalo has reached alarming levels, with Ncube being labelled a tribalist.

Messages circulating on social media have strongly called for the ouster of Ncube.  In one of the WhatsApp groups one Mduduzi Mleya in clear reference to Thokozani Khupe, told Ncube to form another party with his girlfriends.

“Go back and resuscitate your MDC Green with your girlfriends.  Welshman you are a tribalist and you have failed.  Give back all the properties and cars that you have in your position that you took from MDC.  You are a CIO and you work for Zanu PF,” said Mleya.

Another netizen, Celine Nyakutsikwa commented on the lack of tolerance exhibited by the leadership and its members.

“You see how they label and condemn anyone who thinks differently?  Now all of a sudden Welshman is CIO and working with Zanu PF, laugh out loud. chaora chinhu ichi,” said Nyakutsikwa.

Meanwhile, Ncube was conspicuously absent at the CCC weekend launch of its by-elections campaign rally.  This was after he snubbed the event, preferring to stay at home where he held meetings with the former MDC-T vice president Thokozani Khupe and members of the Mthwakazi Republic Party as they attempt to push for a united Ndebele party in Matabeleland.
