Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Simon Khaya Moyo has admonished false news peddlers to stop feeding people with wrong and unconfirmed information as it is bound to cause disharmony amongst the citizens or disturb families of those mentioned.

The statement follows disturbing news that has been circulating on social media announcing the “death” of Zanu PF Secretary for Production and Labour, Cde Josiah Hungwe.

“The Party has noted with shock and disappointment, the fake news being peddled alleging that ZANU PF stalwart Cde JD Hungwe has died,” said Cde Moyo

Responding to the allegations of his death, Cde Hungwe said, “Those behind such fake news need our prayers.”

Further, Cde Khaya Moyo added that Cde Hungwe was alive and active and managed to participate in the 354th Ordinary Session of the Politburo.

“Our People may need to know that Cde Hungwe, as usual attended the 354th Ordinary Session of the Politburo held last Saturday the 4th of September 2021, where he articulated his department’s revised strategy on building relation with labour movements locally and abroad.

“As such, we call upon those behind such fake news to mature in their political conduct and embrace Ubuntu values which abhor wishing others dead.”

Cde Hungwe rubbished fake news peddlers and said he was focusing his energies toward the preparation of the forthcoming Party Conference and said, “Let us all direct our energies to organising a powerful, exuberant and successful virtual 19 Annual People’s Conference in October as we prepare our people for 2023 harmonised elections.”
