Netizens have lambasted the MDC Alliance for being a party for the elites whose programmes do not resonate with the people of Zimbabwe.
A netizen who goes by the moniker Rita Moyo said the MDC Alliance should be on the forefront calling for the removal of sanctions instead of preaching a message that does not help the people.
“MDC A should stop its elitist attitude. The majority of Zimbabweans are living in poverty because of sanctions invited by the opposition. What the people of Zimbabwe need now is a way out of the sanctions induced poverty and not the tales of spaghetti roads and bullet trains that Nelson Chamisa always promise,” wrote Moyo on her Facebook page.
Another netizen, Agrippa Munyoro, added that Chamisa was a clear testimony that someone can be relatively popular but still remain a fool.
“Chamisa should give us a break with his lies. It’s very clear that he is clueless on economic development. He is a clear testimony that one can be popular but still remain a fool,” added Munyoro.
Drawing parallels on Chamisa and the newly elected Zambian President, Hakainde Hichilema, another netizen, Terrence Kapasura said Chamisa was a dreamer while Hichilema was a democrat and a realist.
“I know that Chamisa envy how Hichilema is followed on social media and how Zambians pay attention to his posts, but he should know that Hichilema had realistic policies. Hichilema won the election because he was preaching democracy, people’s freedom and economic development not spaghetti roads and bullet trains. Someone surely needs to introduce Chamisa to cost benefit analysis and basics of capital budgeting,” said Kapasura.
Lebani Ngwaza Phuti, another netizen, said Chamisa was divorced from reality; hence his messages were not relevant to the majority of the population.
“You can’t tell people in Uzumba about spaghetti roads. People in rural areas got nothing to do with what is being offered by Chamisa. It’s like his policies have got nothing to do with the rural folks who are actually the majority of the national population. Chamisa’s messages do not guarantee him an electoral win come 2023,” said Phuti.
Zimbabwe is heading for elections in 2023, however, a number of potential voters continue to dump the MDC Alliance accusing Chamisa of failing to formulate electoral messages that resonate with the people’s aspirations.
