MDC-A cracks widen over Chidziva ouster

A section of the MDC Alliance youths is demanding the ouster of Secretary for Rural Mobilization and Strategy, Happymore Bvondo Chidziva over links with the Tendai Biti faction.

According to inside sources, MDC Alliance is torn between several factions angling to advance their own interests.

The youth baying for Chidziva’s resignation are reportedly aligned to MDC-A leader Nelson Chamisa. The youthful leader is said to wary of vice president Biti’s overarching ambitions to control party affairs.

“We want Chidziva out. We know he is working with Tendai Biti who can’t be trusted. During President Mogan Tsvangirai’s era he went on to form his party and realized that he needed the MDC name for relevance. We know he is here for his own convenience. We can’t let our guard down. We will not rest until we have cleansed the party of suspicious elements ahead of 2023 elections,” said the source.

He highlighted that, the MDC-A party recently launched its diaspora and rural constituency mobilization initiative ahead of the fast approaching 2023 harmonized elections and allowing Chidziva to head rural mobilization team could turn out catastrophic to Chamisa’s faction.

The source added that the continuous brawling in the opposition MDC-A points to a deep seated mistrust in the Alliance.

“There isn’t any trust here. We have had a number of cadres who have jumped ship to join Zanu PF. We know we still have some people within our rank and file working with Zanu to destroy us.

“We have to flash them out. While some see it as senseless infighting, we are trying to cleanse the party," said the source.

Meanwhile, factional fights continue to rock the fragmented party with cockpit fights spilling over to social media.

Recently, UK based MDC-Alliance activist Pedzisai Ruhanya criticized the party’s leader Nelson Chamisa for surrounding himself with ‘yes men’ with nothing to offer on social media.
