In a no holds barred interview, MDC T party leader Senator Douglas Mwonzora dismissed any hope that his party would join forces with the MDC Alliance, slamming at their style of politics, calling it politics of hate, which he likened to the G40 political outfit.
Speaking during an interview on ZiFM, Mwonzora took a swipe at Professor Jonathan Moyo calling him the leader of hate speech and intolerance.
“My colleagues have adopted the politics from G40, they are taking the politics of Jonathan Moyo, he is known for brutalising his opponents, for rubbishing his opponents for hate language. This is the politics that they have taken and if you go to the social media, this is what you will see.
“We have tried to be civil as the MDC T and we are hoping that our friends within the opposition and friends even in Government will see that this is the time to change our politics to move away from hate, to move away from intolerance to a new politics as I said of rational disputation,” Senator Mwonzora said.
Irked by Mwonzora's statement, Prof Moyo took to Twitter threatening unspecified legal action against Mwonzora and ZiFM Stereo.
“As a lawyer, you must know that “hate language", as you call it on the ZiFM Stereo clip, or “hate speech", is a crime. Accordingly, I’m reserving my rights....,” Prof.Moyo said.
Turning his threat to ZiFM Stereo, Prof. Moyo said, “....Mwonzora used your platform to claim that I am “known for hate language” and that his unnamed “colleagues" have "taken" my “politics." During the program, you did not ask him to back up his false and defamatory claims. I ask you to do so now and reverse my rights”.
In a show that proves that the MDC-Alliance had seriously adopted the use of hate speech, victimisation and violence, three days ago that party’s vice leader, Tendai Biti, while commenting on HStvNews on the issue of the name change of MDCZimbabwe, used a lot of hate language.
“...We are bigger than Dynamos football club, how do we just abandon that name because we have a mad person called Douglas Mwanzora, ana Mwonzora vayavaya imhepo and so you don’t burn your house because a snake has come in.”
Meanwhile, Mwonzora during his interview with Fatso rubbished the MDC Alliance leadership that has called him a sell-out.
“When I disagreed with the MDC Alliance that’s when they called me a sell-out, but when you look at my leadership top brass you will not find anyone from Zanu PF, yet Chamisa’s top brass has Mavhaire, Jaboon, Mashayamombe and Jim kunaka. Recently, we have had 21 people move from MDC Alliance to ZANU PF, 20 of those people were from Chamisa's party. Now if you look at me, I have never sold any milk for Gushungo holdings nor had any dealings with Zanu PF, but there are people who did that.
“So the person with many defections to Zanu PF, with people returning back home and he who has many ex-Zanu PF members in his leadership and one who once sold Gushungo Milk is the one who sold out. What I am merely saying is we don’t want politics of violence, hate speech and violence. We want politics of the mind,” said Mwonzora.
Before the 2018 elections, President Mnangagwa preached peace, tolerance and the level field for political activities and for the first time, Zimbabwe managed to conduct a free and fair election, allowing even the west to come and observe freely.
