In response to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call for all Zimbabweans to come together and assist our own, Zimbabweans from the business community and across the political divide have come together to fulfil that request by pledging and fulfilling their pledges to the doctors and nurses who lost most of their possessions during the inferno that engulfed their hostels at Mpilo Central Hospital.
The Government of Zimbabwe, ZANU PF Bulawayo South Member of Parliament, Raj Modi and Ok-Zimbabwe stretched their hands to ensure that the affected doctors and nurses from Mpilo hospital are cushioned from this winter effects, hunger and trauma that they experienced by contributing with different donations.
Posting on his Twitter handle, Raji Modi said, “We have managed to mobilise almost ZW$2 million worth of items and groceries to assist Mpilo doctors who lost property in the recent fire and fulfilled my pledge to President Emmerson Mnangagwa that we will help the doctors.”
Amongst some of the goods that were donated by Honourable Modi were kitchen utensils, gas stoves, blankets and food hampers.
OK-Zimbabwe, also donated a shopping voucher from OK-Stores worth a whooping ZW$50 000 to each of the affected doctors and nurses.
Scores of netizens have come out praising the Government and the people of Zimbabwe for a spirit of togetherness and Ubuntu.

William Takawira added, “Thank you and well-done, the Government since the New Dispensation took over the running of this country in 2017, we have seen a different approach. This Second Republic puts the welfare of people first, we also saw during Cyclone Idai, it pulled all the strings to ensure the people of Zimbabwe are safe and taken care of.”
Meanwhile, the Government of Zimbabwe last week availed ZW$287 million toward the rehabilitation and construction of new Mpilo staff hostels.
