MDC T members in Harare were left nursing stab wounds when suspected MDC Alliance thugs invaded and disrupted a gap filling meeting held at Civic Centre in Marlborough yesterday.

A source within the MDC T who spoke to this publication said about 20 machete wielding thugs from MDC A, led by one Justin Chidziva from Warren Park and recalled Ward 16 councilor Denford Ngadziore, mercilessly attacked MDC T members who had gathered to gap fill their party structures.

“MDC T Harare West District members who had gathered for a gap filling meeting were attacked by Nelson Chamisa’s violent thugs. The violent thugs invaded a meeting at Civic Centre in Marlborough. They attacked women and youths and stabbed five of our members,” said the source.

The source said the thugs attacked them for dumping the MDC Alliance and siding with Douglas Mwonzora.

“Chamisa’s violent and blood thirsty thugs were led by Justin Chidziva from Warren Park and coordinated by Denford Ngadziore, a known violent character who was recently recalled from Council. They accused our members of dumping Chamisa and siding with Mwonzora. They were chanting the Chamisa Chete Chete slogan and were behaving like demon-possessed people,” said the source.

He said that it was a pity that opposition parties were fighting amongst themselves instead of joining forces.

“It’s a pity that our brothers in the MDC Alliance still believe in violence to settle out differences. We thought that the MDC Alliance was a democratic party that respects the freedom of association and choice, but we were surprised seeing them attacking our members for having a different political opinion from theirs. Instead of joining hands with us, they now treat the MDC T as a threat that should be crushed to death,” added the source.

Efforts to get a comment from MDC Alliance’s national spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere were fruitless as she did not respond to messages sent to her by the time of going to print.
