National Chairperson of the opposition MDC T has castigated the MDC Alliance formation saying that it is led by people who have no political ideology as well as national interests at heart.
Komichi said this while refuting claims that he is contemplating ditching the MDC T to join the Nelson Chamisa led MDC A formation.
“I have no intentions of joining MDC A. How can I join a formation that is led by people who are still embroiled in student politics? The MDC A has no ideology, no political strategy and they have no national interests at heart,” said Komichi.
Komichi said that he is seized with turning the MDC T into a formidable political party and joining MDC A was out of his mind.
“As the national chairman of MDC T, the biggest opposition party in Zimbabwe, my duty is to positively turn around the political fortunes of our party. Joining MDC A is out of my mind as I am happy and contended with my membership in the MDC T. Those who see Komichi crossing the floor to MDC A are either dreaming or hallucinating. I will not join that formation, especially with its current leadership,” added Komichi.
Komichi further said the MDC A leadership and its supporters should stop making the grave mistake of underestimating the MDC T as it has proved that it is more organized than their party.
“The MDC A should stop making the mistake of underestimating us. They think they are the only opposition party in Zimbabwe but very soon they will be shocked when they discover that they have no supporters but sympathizers. We have proved that we are more organized than them. We have gained control of Harvest House. We gained control of the opposition legislators in parliament. So how can I go back to a party of losers?” queried Komichi.
The MDC T is at loggerheads with the MDC A following last year’s court ruling that the latter was not a political party but a group of seven parties that converged for the sake of contesting the 2018 elections.
Komichi together with Thokozani Khupe, Douglass Mwonzora, Elias Mudzuri and other senior opposition leaders have since dumped the MDC Alliance and retraced their footsteps back to MDC T.
