Young people have been urged to be innovative and grab economic opportunities that have been availed by the New Dispensation.
Speaking to this publication, Chief Programmes Coordinator in the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Resettlement, Nickros Kajengo, said the youths should be innovative and focus on empowerment as this was vital in the development of the nation.
“The New Dispensation is working towards building a new Zimbabwe, a country with a thriving and open economy, capable of creating opportunities and employment. It is therefore critical for youths, especially those in the agriculture sector, to break from the past and move along a commonly shared vision to take forward the destiny of our country. The country needs youths who are innovative, who grab every available opportunity to assist in the development of the country,” said Kajengo.
He added that the ushering in of the New Dispensation in November 2017, marked the dawn of a new era of renewed hope for better life for all Zimbabweans premised on a vision for realization of rapid economic growth and development.
He added that youths should stop the habit of criticizing for no apparent reason and be on the forefront of initiating developmental activities.
“The youths should not be idle. I urge the youths, especially those in the agricultural sector to be active players in the economic development of our motherland. Youths should explore and exploit various economic opportunities availed by the Government. They should know that development starts at an individual level. There are many economic opportunities in the agricultural sector and youth only need to sit down and think on how they can grab these opportunities. This is no longer a time for criticizing the Government, but is a time for youth to come up with ideas on how to make Zimbabwe a jewel of the world. If the youths take agriculture seriously, then President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 will surely be achieved,” added Kajengo.
Kajengo further said that it was important that youths acquire skills that would enable them to actively participate in various economic spheres.
