As Zimbabwe cautiously readjusts to normalcy, national airline Air Zimbabwe has announced that it is adding flights to its domestic and regional routes, in an effort to open up more avenues for travelling.
The airline had suspended flights due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but over the past few weeks, Government has been relaxing some of the COVID-19 regulations, including re-opening the tourism sector for which the airline industry is a major player, hence the need to also adjust the traveling arrangements.
In a statement, Air Zimbabwe said that with effect from 28 March 2021, more domestic and regional routes would be serviced.
“Air Zimbabwe wishes to advise its valued passengers and other stakeholders of the resumption of additional flights operated by the ERJ145 and B737-200,” read the statement.
“Flight UM324 for the Harare/Bulawayo/Victoria Falls/Harare will fly every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Flight UM467/6 for the Harare/Johannesburg/Harare will fly twice daily, every day.”
Flight UM438/9 for the Dar es Salaam/Harare will, however, continue as per current schedule of flying every Tuesday and Saturday, which it also resumed on 2 March.
The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority welcomed this decision saying that it would go a long way in reviving the hard hit tourism sector and urged people to continue abiding to the COVID19 regulations and guidelines in order to avoid a further drawback in the sector.
