JSI awards AU USD $480 000 for TB research

Africa University (AU) College has been given a USD $480 000 grant by the John Snow, Inc (JSI) to develop a national Tuberculosis (TB) research to increase access to specialist care in developing communities, the Harare Post can report.

On its Facebook page AU said, “AU College of Health has been awarded a USD $480 000 grant by the JSI Research and Training Institute to steer and develop national TB research that will increase access to specialist care in developing communities, collate data and strengthen evidence based interventions.

“AU is the first private university chartered in Zimbabwe and a world class institution focusing on leadership development in Africa. As an institution that is ‘pan-African by design’, students en-roll from throughout the continent without regard for race, ethnicity, social class or political or religious affiliation. Learning and extra curricula activities nurture spiritual growth, ethics and sound moral values, leadership skills, volunteerism and a high level of comfort with diversity.”

The Harare Post has learnt JSI is a public health research and consulting firm based in the United States of America and around the world. The firm provides technical and managerial assistance to public health programs worldwide.

JSI collaborates with local partners to assist countries, governments, communities, families, as well as individuals to develop skills and identify solutions to meet their health needs.
