PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa arrived in Victoria Falls yesterday where he is scheduled to officially open the 6th session of the African Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD) today, 24 February 2020.
The President, accompanied by several Ministers including Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mthuli Ncube, landed at Victoria Falls airport just before 5pm.
He was welcomed by several government officials that include Minister of State Security Owen Ncube, Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting services, Minister of Public Service, Labor and Social Welfare Paul Mavima and other several government officials.
After his arrival, President Mnangagwa was whisked to Elephant Hills hotel where he had a closed-door briefing with organizers of the event.
The President had a chance to have a small chat with United Nations Deputy Secretary General Ms. Amina Mohammed.
He is expected to officially open the forum which is running under the theme: “2020-2030”: A decade to deliver a transformed and prosperous Africa through the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063.
Zimbabwe is set to assume the Chairmanship of the Forum which is currently in the hands of Morocco.
The opening ceremony is expected to be attended by over 3000 delegates from different parts of the world.
