Zim nationals safe in China-Baogang

Zimbabweans living in China should not panic over the emergence of the Novel Corona Virus (NCoV) 2019 as adequate measures are in place for the virus not to spread to the Zimbabwean community in China, the Deputy Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe has said.

Deputy Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Minister Counsellor Zhao Baogang, speaking at a press briefing on the Zimbabwean students studying in China held yesterday in Harare jointly chaired by Health and Child Care Minister Obadiah Moyo, said parents and guardians in Zimbabwe should not panic as the students are well looked after.

“Zimbabweans studying in China are safe, well and sound. The Chinese government working with the Zimbabwean Embassy in China are taking care of the students. No Zimbabwean is yet to be diagnosed with Corona Virus and the situation is likely to remain so,” said the Deputy Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe.

The Deputy Chinese Ambassador also said Zimbabweans living in China are yet to complain about the epidemic, a sign that all is well with them.

He said the Chinese government, led by President Xi Jinping, is above the situation and to date two hospitals with a carrying capacity of 2 400 beds have been completed in a space of 10 days.

It was also revealed that over 6000 health personnel were deployed to deal with the scourge of NCoV in China, a sign that China is serious in their fight against the Virus.

Minister Moyo commended the Chinese government for their positive actions in trying to combat the spread of the virus. He said he had faith in the China’s ability to curb the spread of the virus as China is a powerhouse when it comes to medical researchers.

Minister Moyo reiterated that Zimbabweans should not panic as the Zimbabwean Government is currently working hand in glove with their Chinese counterparts to stop the virus from spreading to Zimbabweans living in China or in Zimbabwe.
