President Emmerson Mnangagwa has guaranteed the country will be food secure despite the effects of drought.
The President said this whilst addressing the Zanu-PF Politburo meeting today in Harare.
President Mnangagwa said the whole nation will be guaranteed food security in spite of the regional drought. He also said food distribution was going to reach all citizens regardless of political affiliation.
The President said the drought having had a strong impact on livestock, there was a Livestock Saving and Recovery Programme (LSRP) that is going to be implemented by Government soon.
President Mnangagwa also said Zanu-PF needed to take a hands-on approach on supervising Government activities imparting discipline in everything it does. The fight against corruption should be intensified. Members of the Party should show leadership in that fight, all Zanu-PF party structures should not to be involved in violence within the mining sector, he said.
The Zanu-PF First Secretary called for a fight against inflation and the establishment of a sustainable mono-currency regime that would be intensified this year.
The Harare Post has learnt President Mnangagwa has also announced that Zimbabwe is turning 40 in April this year and for the first time it will hold and observe the Independence Anniversary outside Harare.
