A member of the MDC Alliance affiliated Zimbabwe Teachers Association (ZIMTA), is currently on the run from the police after a failed attempt to destabilise the peace obtaining in the country when he force marched secondary school children from Njube, Mpopoma and Luveve high schools to do their bidding through an unsanctioned demonstration in Bulawayo yesterday, The Harare Post has learnt.
In a memorandum from the Officer-In-Charge Njube, to the Officer Commanding Bulawayo West District, one teacher identified as Brian Mutsiba, forced students to demonstrate on behalf of their teachers who have been staying away from class citing incapacitation.
“The accused incited over 153 form ones, three and six students to partake in an unlawful demonstration,” reads part of the memo.
“The accused removed the portrait of the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe from the staff room and went on to unhoist the National flag from its mast. He then exited the school gate with the students he had mobilised for the unsanctioned march,”
Traces of the MDC A hand cannot be ruled out as MDC A presidential spokesperson Dr Nkululeko Sibanda was observed milling around. It should be noted that this is not the first time the MDC has used children to take part in their demonstrations, sometimes using them as shields. One would recall the how the MDC tried to use children to create a wall against the law enforcement officers. The children were made to hold flowers and to attempt to give the flowers to the law enforcement officers meanwhile the MDC T went ahead and performed and unsanctioned mass demonstaration.
