This year 2020, Zimbabwe and China celebrate forty (40) years of untiring friendship. This was shared during a meeting between the visiting Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Mr Wang Yi and the Acting President Vice President Constantino Chiwenga at a local hotel in Harare yesterday.
Speaking during the official visit, Mr Wang Yi stressed on the strong bonds between Zimbabwe and China.
“First, China and Zimbabwe friendship is unbreakable. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Zimbabwe,” said Mr Yi.
At a time Zimbabwe is making efforts to re-engage with the other estranged countries, China continues to pledge its unwavering support for Zimbabwe despite possible embargoes by the United States of America for trading with Zimbabwe.
“Over the past 40 years, Sino-Zimbabwe friendship has withstood the test of strong winds and waves and has been unswerving. Among others, the most fundamental experience is mutual respect, mutual trust and mutual support,” Mr Yi added.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa is on record calling for all former estranged countries to come and re-engage with Zimbabwe which is now open for business for mutual benefit.
Coincidentally, Zimbabwe celebrates its 40th anniversary of independence this year and China has pledged to continue cooperating with Zimbabwe.
Mr Yi said “The two sides should adhere to the concept of win-win cooperation, continue to carry out good cooperation infrastructure, agriculture, mining and so on and actively expand new growth points.”
Mr Yi called for the removal of illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe.
