Government through the Ministry of Youth Sports Arts and Culture is supporting and empowering the youth from various provinces in the country as they are set to attend the 34th Annual Surajkund International Craft Mela in India.
Posting on their facebook page yesterday, the Ministry revealed that Ngoma Dzepasi Arts Group together with selected crafters from various provinces in the country are set to go to India where they will obtain the necessary international exposure, experience and important dynamics of the Indian Crafts and Culture.
The Ministry said this experience would benefit Zimbabwe in its endeavour to promote and preserve its own culture and traditional crafts. They went on to say that this will be a knowledge sharing and exposure platform to unfolding trends in the development of Zimbabwe’s Arts sector.
The Ministry further said that this experience will turn the Arts and Culture sector into a vibrant creative industry and for the economic good of the country.
Zimbabwean Government’s efforts are not in vain because according to UNESCO, performing arts are the biggest employers in the informal economy across the globe. Cultural tourism and creative industries have been accepted as both a heritage and a lever for future development.
