The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has noted with great concern over social media users who have generated a list of false successful candidates to fill the 5000 teaching vacancies.

Permanent Secretary for the Ministry, Tumisang Thabela said this in a statement issued today.

“As the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education takes concrete steps to fill the approved 5000 vacant teacher positions, it has come to our attention that social media users have ‘generated’ a list of those who have been allegedly successful,” said Thabela.

Thabela said that the final approved lists will be issued through the formal channels of Government and Ministry under the signature of the Permanent Secretary for Primary and Secondary Education, advising of the approval by the Public Service Commission.

Thabela urged prospective teachers and the nation at large to disregard the cooked up list on social media and wait for the authentic notification. She said that the Ministry does not use the social media for such key information dissemination.

Social media continues to be used to peddle false hoods to an extent that it is now difficult to ascertain matters posted on it without authentication. Social media users should desist from being convinced by information posted by unrealisable sources such as information posted by individuals.
