President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged captains of industry and business to support Government’s policies implemented in line with the vision 2030.
In his address at the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) business conference in Harare today, President Mnangagwa challenged the captains of industry to walk along with Government in realizing a modern economy.
“As ZNCC you must drive the increased productivity agenda through clear foresight and the appropriate appreciation of the vision of our country.
“It would be most unfortunate if the Chamber fails to harness the vast opportunities in our country. The focus and discourse should be around what is possible,” said President Mnangagwa.
The President further urged the business community to come on board in modernising the country’s economy.
“We all must work hard and commit to become an upper middle income economy by 2030. Once again, the national agenda requires collaborative efforts from all stakeholders, partners and the business community in particular. You remain an integral part in our reform efforts as we pursue a private sector led economic growth and development,” said the President.
This year’s Business conference which ran under the theme, “Expanding business Dynamic solutions for Economic Turnaround,” was attended by a Johannesburg National Chamber of Commerce delegation led by its President, Jacki-Mpondo Hendricks.
President Mnangagwa took the opportunity to commend the existing economic and political relations between South Africa and Zimbabwe through the Bi-National Commissions frameworks.
He said that it was pleasing that a working relationship was being cultivated and bearing fruits.
In conclusion, President Mnangagwa urged the captains of industry that the interactions, debates and discussions that will take place at this 2019 Business Conference should contribute in coming up with recommendations that will proffer economic solutions, employment creation, poverty eradication and a better quality of life to the people.
