Leader of the opposition Labour, Economists and African Democrats (LEAD) party, Linda Masarira has exposed America for meddling in Zimbabwe’s politics through paying cash to opposition politicians to demonise their country.

Masarira spilled the beans when she narrated how the American embassy in Harare dangled a huge fat cheque to her on condition she goes around the globe vilifying her country on various international platforms.

“They (Americans) wanted to give me 2 million dollars, they wanted to get me to America, give me a green card, and take me on tours to European countries so that I demonize my country but I am not that person,” Masarira said.

Masarira further said that she was different from other opposition politicians who find pleasure in attacking their own country to please the Americans.

“I’m not like other opposition leaders who speak evil of their country. I chose to serve my country. I am not mad. We cannot survive on the mercy of America or Europe or Britain, we are Zimbabweans first before we have something else,” said Masarira.

Analyst Godfrey Chigwende commended Masarira’s stance on exposing Americans’ evil tactics against Zimbabwe and said other politicians especially those from the MDC should emulate Masarira’s spirit of patriotism.

Members of the MDC are largely accused of being willing puppets used by the Western countries to demonise Zimbabwe. In the early 2000s, the MDC asked for sanctions to be imposed on Zimbabwe. The sanctions are still hurting the ordinary people.
