The white commercial farmers applauded President Emmerson Mnangagwa for spearheading command agriculture and the Presidential Input Support Scheme, Harare post has learnt.
In an interview with this publication during the official opening of Mahusekwa District Hospital this Saturday, Marondera based commercial white farmer, David Stuart Tippet revealed that, as white farmers, they had benefited from the command agriculture which increased their production.
“I am one of the few white farmers who have benefited from the command agriculture programme. I have also encouraged the local farmers to register to benefit from the Presidential Input Scheme so as to increase their production and ensure food security.
“As white farmers in Marondera, we are working with local farmers to equip them with various farming schemes to increase their production. We have also introduced a number of farming research programmes at Kushinga Training Centre and offer attachment vacancies to the students,” expressed Mr Tippet.
Mr Tippet further extoled the government for ensuring the protection of property rights as enshrined in the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
“I have been farming in Marondera since 1995 and have contributed immensely to food security. I want to applaud the Government for ensuring the protection of property rights. We have not yet faced any challenges in our operations and we are working well with the local farmers,” said Mr Tippet.
