Controversial street preacher, Talent Farai Chiwenga’s plan to sneak into the country with military weapons hit a brick after vigilant ZIMRA officials impounded his luggage at Mt Selinda Border Post, the Harare Post can reveal.
Sources revealed that, Chiwenga of the Jesus Revelation Ministries exited the country for Mozambique on 7 November 2019 in the company of Lovemore Kanyura and Darlington Moyo using a Land Rover Discovery vehicle.
On his return on 11 November, Chiwenga attempted to sneak in with three tear gas ejectors, three taser electrocuting devices (electric shock device), one duke pepper grenade (filled with a pepper powder mix, which spreads over a 5m radius when detonated), five two way communication radios (radio that can both transmit and receive a signal), two radio chargers and one snap on eye flash torch.
In his statement, Chiwenga told the ZIMRA officials that he had acquired the gadgets from South Africa for self-defence.
There has been an increase of military weapons coming into the country with some having been used to dent the image of the security sector of country.
Investigations are still underway to ascertain Chiwenga’s intended plan of the gadgets.
