Citizens have hailed the appointment of President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the Chairman of the Southern African Development Committee’s Organ on Politics, Defence and Security at the 39th Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Energy Mutodi welcomed the appointment of President Mnangagwa on behalf of the Government.
Posting on his official twitter handle, Deputy Minister Mutodi said, “The Government of Zimbabwe would like to congratulate His Excellency President Mnangagwa following his appointment as the SADC Troika Chairman in charge of Politics, Defence and Security. We are very proud of this achievement.”
In congratulating President Mnangagwa, one netizen, Delie, urged countries within the SADC region to direct any political issues to the newly appointed Chairman.
She tweeted that, “If you have any pressing political issues in your country within the SADC region, please take them up with the Chairman on the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa. Congratulations Sir.”
Another netizens, Kanumars said, “Congratulations President Emmerson Mnangagwa for your appointment. We cherish the time and your visionary leadership will take us to the promised land. Aluta continua with the great work.”
Former Editor of The Herald, Ceasar Zvayi said the appointment of President Mnanagwa is spot on as it would solve the political issues currently bedevilling the nation. Zvayi tweeted that, “The significance of President Mnangagwa’s chairmanship lies in the fact that it comes at a time the opposition MDC-A and its handlers are claiming a crisis of legitimacy and turmoil in Zimbabwe, meaning SADC as a whole does not buy that crap and in fact sees a problem solver in ED (President Mnangagwa).”
Meanhile, ZANU-PF Youth League National Political Commissar, Godfrey Tsenengamu has called upon all youth league members to attend the celebration of President Mnangagwa’s SADC appointment at ZANU-PF Headquarters on 21 August 2019.
