Netizens have castigated MDC Secretary General and legislator for Kuwadzana East constituency, Charlton Hwende for his outcry over the distribution of the political parties’ funds.
MDC has been seen as a selfish and unprincipled party which seeks funds from the Government it does not recognise.
One netizen, Ntate Mdluli tweeted that MDC must appeal for funding from their donors instead of bothering the Government that it does not recognize.
“You can get money from your donors; stop bothering the Government which you only recognize when you are in need of money. Bunch of hypocrites,” he tweeted.
Another netizen, Nomore Tazvitya tweeted that MDC only want the money to fund their demonstrations.
“It’s a shame that MDC wants to be given the money so that they can fund their demonstrations. The money that you want is from a constitutionally elected Government which you always say that you do not approve,” tweeted Tazvitya.
Liberty Chitiya tweeted that MDC party has double standards.
“It is all about the money, from an “illegitimate” Government? You make the Gods crazy with your madness, double standards. You must be ashamed of yourselves,” he tweeted.
John Ngirazi tweeted that MDC must look for productive means of generating money rather than to wait for the Government to give them money to finance their protests.
“Engage in productive means of generating money than to look forward to the Government to finance you to demonstrate and destroy property,’ tweeted Ngirazi.
The netizens were responding to Hwende`s tweet which he tweeted yesterday indicating that the Government is taking time to disburse their political funds.
“Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube gave the Ministry of Justice money for political parties. Zanu PF received their money last week. They are now looking for ways of denying us our funds,” claimed Hwende.
However, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana has disputed this indicating that no party had been paid.
