ZANU-PF is intensifying campaigns ahead of Lupane East Constituency with revolutionary party seeking victory on 3rd of August 2019.

The ruling party has lined up several campaign rallies with Victor Matemadanda, ZANU-PF National Political Commissar, set to address a rally on Wednesday at Lupane Business Centre next week.

ZANU-PF candidate for Lupane East is Cde Mbongeni Dube who is the current National Deputy Secretary for Education in the Youth League.

The seat fell vacant after the death of Cde Sithembile Gumbo earlier this year.

Matebeleland North Provincial Chairman, Cde Richard Moyo, speaking to this publication through a telephone interview said the province unanimously agreed to give youth a chance to represent the party.

Cde Moyo said the party was taking concerns raised by the youths on board as they have also a chance to represent the people.

“In our province, out of the 13 Members of Parliament, we only have one youth representative so we agreed to give them a chance. Central Committee members in the province also concurred with our decision," he said.

Cde Moyo said the people of Lupane have always supported ZANU-PF. He said the party was confident of wrestling the seat.

Moyo will square it off with Morgan Ndhlovu (Labour Economists and African Democrats Party), Given Ncube  (MDC-T), Dalumuzi Khumalo (MDC-Alliance), Nelson Mkandla (National Action Party), Andrew Tshaba (Mthwakazi Republic Party), Njabulo Sibanda (National Patriotic Front), Gezekile Mkhwebu (ZAPU) and Alice Sibanda ( National Constitutional Assembly).

President Mnangagwa proclaimed August 3 as the date for the by-election as well as council polls for Nkayi Rural District Council ward 23 and Bubi ward 22.
