Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) chairperson Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo has warned the public that her Commission will leave no stone unturned in trying to arrest corruption adding that Zimbabwe prisons are open for business to accommodate the culprits.

She said this whilst addressing journalists at a press conference held at the ZACC Headquarters in Harare today.

Justice Matanda-Moyo highlighted that ZACC received 38 cases of corruption of which 10 are high profile in nature. She highlighted that ZACC has started investigating high profile corruption cases, with one already at the National Prosecuting Authority, that is, the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) case in which the Authority’s former Finance Director, Simon Taranhike is being accused of criminal abuse of office and attempts to conceal corruption.

She highlighted that though some ZACC officers faced resistance from some individuals in offices of high authority, the issues have been dealt with.

“I wish to assure the public that those who had attempted to defeat the course of justice have been dealt with and have subsequently released the documentary evidence needed for investigations. Let everyone be warned that ZACC will not hesitate to do all in its power to ensure that every case is investigated diligently without fear or favour,” she said.

Justice Matanda-Moyo highlighted that ZACC is seized with the Auditor General’s report and the NSSA forensic report and arrests will be made.

“We are seized with matters arising from the Auditor General’s report. Already we have opened investigations pertaining to those records. So if those individuals listed are part of the report then we are seized with the matter.

“We are already seized with the NSSA issue, we are investigating the NSSA issue and I am happy to report that we do the forensic report and we are going through the forensic report and arrests will be made arising from that report, just watch the space,” she said.

She also highlighted that asset recovery will be a big thing during her tenure in office as no one should benefit from crime. She went on to say that there is no fight against corruption without asset recovery which is a big issue.
