In line with the new education curriculum which seeks to modernise the education system so as to meet modern technologies, the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development has unveiled a Government project in which Industrial Parks and Science Hubs will be introduced across the country. The project intends to mix Science with business to meet modern times.
Speaking to the Harare Post, Mashonaland East Ministry of Higher Education and Tertiary Education representative, Manford Dlamini revealed that these Industrial Parks and Science hubs is a technical idea where Science and Technical ideas are nurtured until fully grown into a business.
“These Industrial Parks and Science hubs are an incubation of science business where innovation and invention takes place,” he said.
Dlamini also revealed that Universities across the country have been identified to spearhead the project in their respective provinces while the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement has been tasked with identifying and providing land for the project.
He said, “Universities have been tasked to spearhead the project in their respective provinces while the Lands Ministry has been given the responsibility to identify land for the project.
"Marondera Land Ministry has already identified 70 hectares earmarked for the project.”
Dlamini further revealed international science specialists would be roped to nurture the scientists and their projects until they are commercialised. The Industrial Parks and Science hubs follow Government’s vision to achieve a middle class economy by 2030 by producing business oriented scientists.
