Zimbabweans today have boycotted a national shutdown which on social media was said would be effected in some parts of the country.

Speaking to Harare Post on condition of anonymity, in Harare today a Government official said although social media contained messages that were being circulated to incite people to participate in shutting down business activities today, he was not going to participate.

“During the weekend and on Monday today I have been seeing messages on social media calling for people not to go to work and participate in a shutdown, stay away or demonstrations. I am not going to be part of such activities. I have confidence in the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) which was launched on Friday 17 May 2019,” said the official.

People have today continued to carry out their normal businesses despite calls for them to commence demonstrations.

Harare Post has learnt the recent launch of POLAD in Harare which has created room for dialogue amongst political players. POLAD was created to unite Zimbabweans to uphold constitutionalism in a non partisan manner which ensures a constructive dialogue materialises to solve the challenges the country is facing.
