Secretary for Youth Affairs, Pupurai Togarepi reminded the youths that elections are firmly behind them and that it is now time to work for national development.

Addressing National Executive meeting held today at Zanu PF Headquarters, Togarepi said the youth league should participate in the development of the country.

"As Youth League, we should participate in the development of the country,” said Togarepi.

He said youths should not fold hands but rather be proactive and be true ambassadors of the party.

He said the youths stood with President Emmerson Mnangagwa as he engaged with the international community.

"As youths, we support the re-engagement process the President is currently taking. We are keen to work with progressive people who have the nation at heart," said Togarepi.

He said Zanu Pf was an organised party with various secretaries and portfolios which complimented Government.

"The party should be ahead of Government. The Government is born from the party and the party is supreme," said Togarepi.

He thanked the youths who volunteered their services to Cyclone Idai victims in Chimanimani, Chipinge, Bikita and Chikomba districts.

He said National Assembly meeting, which is held twice per year should take stock of what the youths would be doing in various provinces.

"This is the first National Assembly meeting after the victory of President Emmerson Mnangagwa as declared by the Constitutional Court of Zimbabwe and the youths should be the beacon of the party," added Togarepi.

He said the President has created an environment where there was financial inclusion of youths and women.

“Let’s organise ourselves in groups and approach Youth Empowerment Bank which is willing to assist us," said Togarepi.

He said the youths should be trained in project management.

President Mnangagwa has since his inauguration indicated that his administration will prioritise economic resuscitation to create employment and empowerment opportunities for the youths across the country.
