Different Ministries have recorded an increase in production and deliverables following Government’s 100 day quick win programs.

In its 100 day cycle, the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development has managed to record an increase in the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company’s ore processing capacity from 200 to 400 tonnes per hour.

The Ministry has also managed to establish three Gold Service Centres in Manicaland, Mashonaland Central and Midlands Provinces, a situation that has been welcomed in light of gold smuggling and syphoning.

Thompson Sibula, a Miner in the Matabeleland region, expressed interest for a gold service centre to be opened in Matabeleland South.

“Do we have these gold service centres in Mat South? There is a lot of panning activities here, I doubt if all the gold ends up in Government’s hands.  Setting up a centre in this area will be a great idea in ensuring that all the gold is tendered to Government,” he said.

Following the launch by President Emmerson Mnangagwa of the US$4.2 billion dollar project on 24 July 2018, Karo Resources have started on their Chrome and Platinum exploration projects, a move that is likely to contribute towards employment creation and improved livelihoods of people as the country looks towards vision 2030 of an upper middle income economy.

 Meanwhile, a top United States diplomat has expressed optimism about Zimbabwe’s prospects of turning around its economy in the wake of reforms being implemented by President Mnangangwa’s Government.
