As the crackdown on corrupt activities intensifies on suspected public funds looters in the ZESAgate, 19 heads are to roll, 16 officials from the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) and three from Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) are up for corruption and dereliction of duties.
ZPC Acting Managing Director, Joshua Chirikutsi, Financial Director Hubert Chiwara and a Civil Engineer, Cleopas Mupereki are some of the names that they will soon face the wrath of justice.
Government has intensified its blitz on corrupt elements in the Energy and Power Ministry’s flagship parastatals of the country. In the past few days, arrests were effected on ZESA CEO Joshua Chifamba, Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) Managing Director Julian Chinembiri and Finance Director Thoko Dhliwayo over corrupt activities.
The arrests of high-profile people, who have been nabbed in the last few days by the Police Anti-Corruption Unit (PACU) is a result of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration’s anti-corruption blitz on public looters.
Sources within the Ministry of Energy and Power Development have hinted that many officials in the parastatals are soon to be apprehended on corruption charges.
