President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to the protection of capital investments.
He said this while addressing delegates that had attended the Zimbabwe National Day, at the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai Expo 2020.
While marketing the country’s economic ecosystem to possible investors, President Mnangagwa assured investors of an agreement that exists between Zimbabwe and the UAE that assures them protection of their investments.
“The mantra Zimbabwe is Open for Business has inspired tremendous improvements in the Ease of Doing Business environment in line with our determination to guarantee the safety of capital in our country.
“Equally, the ratification of the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement between Zimbabwe and the UAE, reinforces my Government’s respect for property rights as well as security and tenure of investment,” the President said.
The President, further highlighted the possible business opportunities and policies put in place to support investment in the different sectors of the country’s economy.
“The National Agriculture Policy Framework; Tourism Recovery and Growth Strategy and the Mining Development Strategy, among other policies in our country’s economic eco-system, are prospectus as to the business and investment possibilities.
“Of note is Zimbabwe’s diversified mineral resource base. Our favourable climate and diversified agriculture present vast opportunities for investment among the agro-value chain industries and trade, especially agro in the horticulture produce,” said the President
President Mnangagwa expressed gratitude to the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his kindness and generosity at the assistance rendered by the UAE during Zimbabwe’s great loss and distress, following the climate change-induced Tropical Cyclone Idai in 2019 and most recently when that country availed essential medical supplies to bolster Zimbabwe’s fight against COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwean Pavilion is exhibiting under the theme ‘Zimbabwe the Land of Great Opportunities,’ while the Dubai Expo 2020 is running under the theme, ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.’
