…..as Air Tanzania joins other airlines in Zim Skies
Air Tanzania resumed its Dar-es-Salaam – Lusaka –Harare flights yesterday after a long absence from the skies following the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted in the shutdown of flights both locally and globally, the Harare Post can report.
Speaking through a press statement yesterday Air Tanzania announced its resumption of flights.
“The Wings of Kilimanjaro, is proud to announce the resumption of flights from its hub at the Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar-es-Salaam to the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare.
“The flights resume today (yesterday) on 27 October 2020, and will be served initially twice weekly on Tuesday and Fridays,” read part of the presser.
Announcing its route Air Tanzania said, “We will operate the route via Lusaka, Zambia using a Dash8-Q400 aircraft.
One Air Tanzania Official who chose to remain anonymous reiterated that, “We are thrilled to be resuming the Lusaka-Harare flights, this South bound route connects both Lusaka and Harare business people, tourists and academic to the port city of Dar-es-Salaam and beyond.”
Air Tanzania joins a host other airlines such as South African Airways (SAA), Emirates, Ethopian and RwandAir, Fastjet among others that have since resumed their routes to Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, Government continues to adhere to strict World Health Organisation (WHO) and IATA guidelines regarding steps to be followed before one can be allowed to board a plane and leave the country. At the moment these guidelines include personal masking up, sanitizing, washing hands, temperature checks as well as disinfection of aircraft before and after disembarkation of passengers.
