The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) is set to clench a few investment deals owing to the China’s Belt and Road Initiative Trade and Investment Cooperation which it recently attended in China.

Speaking in the capital, ZNCC’s chief executive, Christopher Mugaga said that having attended the 2019 Seminar for Chambers of Commerce of Belt and Road countries organised by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, prospects of the chamber clenching a number of international trade deals has equally heightened.

“The Belt and Road Initiative Chamber creates attractive business opportunities for business, to develop collaborations between small and medium-sized enterprises to deliver value through business and trade throughout the world.

“Zimbabwe’s ZNCC participated in this seminar which will see the country venturing into new frontiers in terms of international trade set to impact positively on the country’s economic and social development very soon,” he said.

The seminar aimed at promoting personnel exchanges and enhance partnerships of Chambers of Commerce between countries, and to revive the ancient Silk Road trading routes.

He added that over the years, China-Zimbabwe relations had gained under the Belt and Road framework which saw mega projects being completed in the country and Chinese companies increasing investment in construction, agriculture, and manufacturing; a situation meant to improve the country’s economy.

The initiative strives to open and establish new frontiers through exploration, learning and innovation for start-ups as well as established enterprises.
