Government is making progress on its quest to develop the country’s infrastructure in the power, water, transport, social services, ICT and housing sectors, The Harare Post can report.
In its October 2019 publication, “The Hidden Story of Zimbabwe’s Economic Development,” the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development said there was need for the nation to have good infrastructure to stimulate economic development.
“Good infrastructure is a prerequisite for achieving economic growth and development through enabling other sectors of the economy to function efficiently and effectively.
“The country’s infrastructure has gone for decades without meaningful maintenance, creating a huge gap. In order to close the gap, Government has embarked on a number of infrastructure projects in various sectors and many are at various stages of implementation,” said the Ministry of Finance.
Harare Post has learnt amongst other successful Government projects, the following projects where Government is making progress can be highlighted; Hwange Power Station 7 and 8 is 21% complete, Marovanyati Dam overall progress is at 96%, refurbishment of Gweru Provincial hospital was completed. Laying of optic fibre was completed on Harare-Mutare, Harare-Bulawayo, Bulawayo-Beitbridge and Harare-Beitbridge. The New Parliament building is now at third floor deck level.
