Broke CCC resorts to local fundraising

One CCC candidate who preferred anonymity expressed his disappointment at the lack of prioritisation by the CCC leadership when it comes to financial management.

“We are quite aware that the party (CCC) received some major funding from USAID, NED, CANVAS and some individuals from the diaspora, but the funds have been diverted for their personal use.

“For Makone to inform us of the party’s (CCC) decentralisation of funding that calls for each candidate to mobilise their own finances is tantamount to throwing all candidates under the bus. As candidates who recently self-financed the nomination fees, we are financially outstretched.  What we require are not the tips on the kind of budget that we need, we have that already, what we need is financial bailout from the parent party,” said the CCC candidate

Another CCC member who claims to have been part of the Candidate Independent Selection Panel (CISP), who preferred anonymity for fear of victimisation, disclosed that Chamisa blew donation money on personal spending because he expected the USA to fund that party’s 23 August election campaign.

“The major reason the president (chamisa) purged the legislator for Harare East constituency, Tendai Biti and Murisi Zwizwayi is because he suspects the former of having a hand in his unsuccessful begging for campaign money from the USA.

“However, we are all aware that when he (Chamisa) went to the USA with a begging bowel, he was dismissed for lack of party structures and a party strategy on the eve of the 23 August elections,” said the CCC member.

The CCC party is currently dealing with a lot of disgruntlements following wanton imposition of candidates that clearly spell out Chamisa’s design to consolidate his position within that party.  Last week, CCC supporters in Southerton protested over alleged imposition of a candidate who was only identified as Bridget Nyandoro at the expense of the preferred candidate, Mai Madzingaidzo
