Residents of Glen View South are lauding the ZANU PF-led Government for spearheading tangible development projects in their constituency ahead of the Parliamentary by-election set for Saturday.
The improvements, ranging from infrastructure upgrades to essential service delivery, have sparked optimism among locals who are hopeful for continued progress.
Key among the initiatives are the drilling of solar-powered boreholes, the construction of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centres, and the rehabilitation of the area’s road network—projects that have significantly uplifted the quality of life for many.
Five candidates are vying for the Glen View South National Assembly seat, with ZANU PF fielding Cde Tsitsi Tawomhera. Her candidacy has gained notable support, as residents express growing confidence in the ruling party’s delivery record.
In an interview with the media, yesterday, a local resident, Mirriam Tshuma, highlighted that she was excited about the positive changes taking place in her area.
“Glen View South used to be in a deplorable state, with sewage spilling all over during the opposition’s time. But now, things are set to change for the better,” she said.
Echoing similar sentiments, Amon Mleya emphasized the value of consistent service delivery.
“The improvements we see now—cleaner surroundings, better roads, water access—are a testament to serious leadership. We are ready to vote for Cde Tawomhera and ensure these developments continue,” he said.
Residents like Mabachi also pointed to previous disappointments under opposition leadership, which they say failed to address critical community needs.
ZANU PF’s Harare Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Voyage Dambuza, expressed confidence in the party’s chances of clinching the seat.
“With all the developmental works taking place, we are confident of a resounding victory in the by-election.
“This area has historically leaned towards the opposition, but our track record is winning hearts. Our candidate is young, energetic, and resonates with the youth, making her a strong contender” he said.
The Glen View South by-election is being seen not just as a local political contest, but as a test of the ruling party’s ability to transform urban constituencies long held by the opposition. With a visible wave of progress and the promise of more to come, ZANU PF is banking on tangible impact to win voter trust—and the seat.
