Government has taken a significant step toward improving healthcare services in Midlands Province by commissioning utility vehicles to address transport challenges within the health sector.
This initiative, part of the Second Republic's commitment to delivering people-centred development, aims to ensure accessible and efficient healthcare for all communities.
Acting Midlands Provincial Medical Officer, Dr. Reginald Mhene, recently expressed gratitude for the government's continued support.
“We are very grateful to our visionary leader, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, for continuing to show us love. Work is difficult where tools of trade are scarce. The vehicles will enable our district doctors to access local clinics and provide the much-needed expertise in our healthcare delivery system. As such, we have moved a gear up in addressing challenges in our jurisdiction,” Dr. Mhene said.
The newly commissioned vehicles are set to bolster the existing fleet, enhancing mobility for health professionals and facilitating the delivery of critical medical services to underserved areas.
Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Owen Ncube, commended the government's efforts in decentralising services under the Health and Child Care Ministry, emphasising their impact on improving healthcare accessibility.
“I applaud the Second Republic under the results-oriented and people-centric leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa for implementing the devolution and decentralisation agenda. This empowers communities to harness heritage-based resources and make local decisions guided by the mantra Nyika inovakwa igotongwa igonamatirwa nevene vayo.
“To this end, I commend the Provincial Medical Director for ensuring equitable health services targeting marginalised communities. Our clinics now receive regular visits from doctors and benefit from medical outreach programs by companies, churches, and development partners. This demonstrates the government’s whole-of-society approach in advancing health infrastructure and equipment,” said Honourable Ncube.
The Second Republic's "leaving no one and no place behind" philosophy has driven significant development in economic and social services across previously marginalised communities.
This latest intervention highlights the Government’s commitment to achieving an upper-middle-income society by 2030 through improved healthcare delivery, infrastructure investment, and service accessibility.
As healthcare facilities in the Midlands Province are set to receive consistent medical support, this development underscores Government’s broader vision of transforming lives and fostering inclusive growth nationwide.
