Cuthbert Chakanya, widely known as the sign language interpreter for President Emmerson Mnangagwa and other top ZANU-PF officials, has added another milestone to his illustrious career.

Chakanya graduated on Friday with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Zimbabwe Open University, cementing his commitment to personal and professional growth.

The graduation ceremony saw Chakanya celebrated not only for his academic achievement but also for his contribution to inclusivity and accessibility at national events.

For years, he has been a familiar figure at rallies, state occasions, and other significant gatherings, where his interpretation ensures that the hearing-impaired community stays connected to the nation's political and developmental discourse.
Speaking about his accomplishment, an elated Chakanya said, “I am beyond happy to have graduated with an MBA. It has been a challenging but fulfilling journey, and I am grateful for the support of my family, friends, and colleagues who encouraged me to keep going.”

Reflecting on his role as a sign language interpreter for the highest office in the land, Chakanya expressed pride in his work.
“To me, it’s an incredible honour to interpret for His Excellency President Mnangagwa and other Party leaders. It’s not just a job but a calling to ensure that everyone, including the hearing-impaired, is part of the national conversation,” said Chakanya.
Chakanya’s dedication to both his craft and education has made him a role model in Zimbabwe’s deaf and hearing-impaired community.

His MBA qualification is expected to open new doors for him while underscoring the importance of continuous learning and self-improvement.
As he celebrates this milestone, Chakanya remains committed to his dual passions: bridging the communication gap for the hearing-impaired and pursuing excellence in all his endeavours.
His journey is a testament to the power of determination and the impact of serving others with dedication.
