A 40-year-old man from Arshyre Farm, Banket, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by Chinhoyi Magistrates' Court for the horrific crime of raping a 10-year-old girl.

The incident occurred on October 12, 2024, when the man and the victim were herding cattle at a dam site. He attempted to coerce the young girl into having sexual intercourse, which she bravely refused. After luring her with bubble gum, he forcefully took her to a secluded area, where he assaulted her. The victim's screams prompted him to flee the scene.

Following the incident, the girl confided in her parents, who promptly reported the crime to the authorities. The offender was arrested, ensuring that justice was served for this tragic case.
