NetOne, Zimbabwe’s mobile network operator, recently extended its annual Christmas Cheers initiative to the Matthew Rusike Children’s Home in Mzingwane, Matabeleland South, delivering essential groceries and sharing a festive meal with the children.

The initiative aims to support vulnerable groups during the holiday season.

The donation, consisting of hampers with food and essential items, was intended to provide a special Christmas experience for the children.
This effort reflects NetOne's commitment to community welfare and aligns with both national and global development priorities.

NetOne’s Group CEO, Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, underscored the significance of the initiative.
He emphasized that such outreach activities support Zimbabwe’s National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those focused on poverty eradication and reducing inequalities.

"Through programs like this, we aim to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable groups. This initiative supports our local communities and reinforces our mission to contribute to national development and social protection,” Mushanawani said.
Chief Commercial Officer Learnmore Musunda highlighted the company’s broader commitment to affordable communication services while noting the importance of community engagement.

“Today is about giving back to the community in a personal way. At the same time, we remain focused on providing affordable telecommunications to every Zimbabwean, as demonstrated by our ‘Dollar a Day’ bundles,” Musunda stated.
Local Member of Parliament, Levi Mayihlome praised NetOne for its continued support of vulnerable communities.

“NetOne’s role in supporting communities is crucial for national development. Their contributions to Matthew Rusike Children’s Home demonstrate how public-private partnerships can improve lives,” Mayihlome said.
The visit included a communal lunch, allowing NetOne staff and the children to interact and engage.

This initiative forms part of NetOne’s corporate social responsibility strategy to support stronger communities across Zimbabwe.
Through such initiatives, NetOne continues to reinforce its commitment not only as a telecommunications leader but as a corporate entity focused on social improvement and supporting vulnerable groups.
