The 27th edition of Mine Entra opened today in Bulawayo, drawing significant attention from both local and international exhibitors.
Running under the theme “Unearthing Success: The Mining Value Chains, Innovation, and Industrialisation Nexus,” the event highlights Zimbabwe’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its mining sector through innovation, technology, and strategic partnerships.
Notably, 19 countries are exhibiting at this year’s event, showcasing the growing international interest in Zimbabwe’s mining industry.
Exhibitors have reported a marked improvement in participation compared to last year, signalling renewed interest in the sector.
Head of Sales at The Engine and Transmission Company, Webster Maondera, expressed his enthusiasm for the increased turnout.
“The turnout this year is much better than last year. We have seen a lot of interest, and it’s encouraging to witness such a strong presence from both established and emerging players in the industry,” he noted.
The diversity of participants has also been a positive indicator of the sector’s growth.
Sales Executive at First Pack, Allen Dhaure, commended the broad range of companies represented at the event.
“This year’s event has brought together a wider range of companies. It shows that the mining and construction industries are growing, and this is a good platform for networking and showcasing our expanded product line, including furniture,” he remarked.
Tano, an IT company with operations across Botswana, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, and South Africa, emphasised the critical role of digital solutions in mining.
“Our expansion into various African markets is aimed at providing cutting-edge digital services to improve efficiencies in mining operations. We have seen significant interest at this year’s expo, and it’s promising,” a company representative stated.
The event also features a series of forums and conferences designed to foster discussions on sustainable mining practices, investment opportunities, and technological advancements.
Industry stakeholders are optimistic that the increased participation will open new avenues for growth and collaboration within Zimbabwe's mining sector.
Mine Entra 2024 will run until October 11, with President Mnangagwa scheduled to officially open the event tomorrow, adding further significance to this important gathering.
