Preparations for the upcoming farming season are in full swing in Goromonzi, where diligent efforts in land preparation and workshops under Pfumvudza Program are underway for the upcoming farming season with the anticipation of productive year ahead.
According to the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, the beginning of October saw the district setting ambitious targets in land preparation and workshops designed to equip farmers with requisite knowledge of the Pfumvudza initiative.
“Preparations for the farming season are underway in Goromonzi where a total of 14 679.The district is plots have been cleared for Pfumvudza as of the first of this month. The district is targeting 65 000 plots. Training are on-going across all the 25 wards of Goromonzi,” reads the statement
As the district gears up for the farming season, a community member and participant Mai Lema is optimistic efforts being put in place by the Ministry of lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development.
“Pfumvudza is not only for individual farmers but for the entire district, this initiative is a lifeline for many families, it is about more than just planting seeds but building resilience and ensuring food security for our community. This will lead to a bountiful harvest and strengthen the local economy,” she said.
Government continued emphasis on the Pfumvudza initiative is meant to enhance food security and improving agricultural productivity in the region and the country at large, with the season approaching, farmers have been urged to actively participate in the training to maximize the benefits of the program.
