The Ministry of Health and Child Care has expressed gratitude after receiving overwhelming positive feedback from the public regarding its free pregnancy scanning service.

This initiative, which aims to provide essential maternal health services, at no cost, has garnered significant approval from women across the country, highlighting the ministry’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and quality.

In a statement, the Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Douglas Mombeshora acknowledged the appreciation from clients who have benefitted from the service.

“We are humbled to receive a thumbs-up vote from our clients for our free pregnancy scanning service. This feedback is a testament to our dedication to finding innovative ways to provide quality care to all,” said Dr Mombeshora.

Dr Mombeshora further emphasized the ministry’s commitment to innovative healthcare solutions.

“We will not rest until every individual has access to the healthcare they deserve. This is just one of the many steps we are taking to achieve that goal,” he added.

The Minister added that the initiative was part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in the country.

“The Ministry has been working tirelessly to improve maternal health outcomes, especially in rural and underserved areas, where access to healthcare facilities is often limited. By offering free pregnancy scans, the ministry aims to bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility and ensure that no woman is left behind,” Dr Mombeshora said.

Health professionals have also lauded the Ministry’s initiative, noting that it plays a crucial role in empowering women with knowledge about their pregnancies.

“Access to ultrasound services is vital for the health of both mother and child. This initiative not only provides critical healthcare information but also reassures mothers during their pregnancy journey,” said Dr Tendai Moyo, a maternal health specialist.

Meanwhile, the free pregnancy scanning service, introduced as part of a broader maternal health program, is designed to ensure that all expecting mothers, regardless of their socio-economic status, have access to essential prenatal care.

The service includes routine ultrasound scans, which are critical in monitoring the health and development of the fetus, detecting any potential complications early, and providing timely interventions when necessary.
