Matabeleland North traditional leader and President of the Chiefs Council, Chief Mtshane Khumalo has said that all systems for the Gukurahundi Outreach Programs are in place to hit the ground running, as soon as President Emmerson Mnangagwa inaugurates the program tomorrow, the Harare Post can report.
In an exclusive interview with this publication Chief Khumalo highlighted that the Gukurahundi outreach program was long overdue having commenced in the year 2019, before breaking off due to Covid19, and was being resumed again now.
“This program was initiated in the year 2019 and was put on hold because of the Covid19 pandemic. Now we are resuming it and I am happy to say that we are ready for it, our Chiefspanel members and repertoires have been fully trained to carry out the exercise effectively,
“Once the President declares the program duly launched, we are confident that out trained teams will approach people with the full knowledge on how to go about their program. Now we are just waiting for the President’s declaration,” Chief Khumalo said.
Chief Khumalo informed that all the necessary equipment for the program was now available, and that all that’s left was to go out into the outreaches and gather what the people will be saying and present it.
“We cannot pre-empty what the people will say without approaching them, so the teams will go out there fully equipped with the gadgets to gather the people’s views and those are the ones we will present. We are all eager and waiting to hear from them and convey the message of what they want,” said Chief Khumalo.
Meanwhile, the outreach programs will be running under the theme, “Promoting Healing, Peace and Unity Through Community Engagements”.
