Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Deputy Minister, Dr Omphile Marupi hosted a team of 30 Parliamentary Portfolio Committee Members, on ICT, at Manama Mission Hospital, Gwanda South, for a familiarization tour, aimed at giving parliamentarians a firsthand understanding of the connectivity issues faced by the local community.
Dr Marupi expressed gratitude to the Clergy at Manama Hospital emphasizing that their presence demonstrated a strong commitment to achieving Vision 2030.
"We would like to thank ELCZ Clergy led by, Bishop M. Dube, Dean Kwanele Ncube, Pastor in Charge Rev D. Moyo, Chaplin Munemo, and Manama Mission Hospital's, Dr Mpilo Sibanda and his staff for their warm welcome to the visiting team despite the short notice, it shows how dedicated you are in supporting the President’s vision,” Dr Marupi remarked.
Dr Marupi’s highlighted Government’s commitment to improving connectivity in Gwanda South, stating that it aligns with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of ensuring that no one and no community is left behind in the digital era.
"Sisonke, sibambisana sizayithola inetwork, we are working tirelessly to ensure that Gwanda South is not left behind. The involvement of top engineers and telecommunications experts signifies our serious commitment to finding lasting solutions," said Hon Dr Marupi.
He further reiterated the pressing need for robust network infrastructure in Gwanda South.
“Currently, residents struggle with unreliable service, impacting everything from healthcare delivery, at Manama Mission Hospital, to local businesses and daily communications, and the Government is tirelessly working on rectifying these issues, this effort is part of a broader national strategy to bring equitable development across all regions Marupi emphasized.
During the tour, engineers conducted assessments to identify key areas needing urgent attention, Bishop M. Dube praised the initiative.
"It's heartening to see such concerted efforts from our leaders. Connectivity is vital for our community's development and well-being."
Meanwhile, Telone representative, Engineer Tafadzwa Mutizwa concluded with a pledge from the telecommunications companies to expedite the implementation of necessary infrastructure upgrades.
"We recognize the critical nature of reliable network service in Gwanda South and are committed to collaborating with Government and other stakeholders to achieve this goal," Mutizwa said.
As Gwanda South moves towards enhanced connectivity, the collective efforts of Government underscore a promising future for Gwanda South, where reliable communication and network services become a reality for all.
